WELCOME

Hi! I am Denise Sauls Parker, a proud and happy Hurricane fan! I have been teaching at Jasper County High School since 2007. Go CANES! I grew up in Monticello and I am a proud graduate of Piedmont Academy. GO BLUE! I returned home after graduating from Mercer University. GO BEARS! I am married and my husband and I have two children, Anna and Will. Anna is a 2016 Honor graduate of JCHS. She is also a 2020 graduate of the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development. Anna is planning to attend nursing school. While at UGA, Anna was an honored member of Redcoat Band for 4 years where she marched piccolo. Will is a 2019 Honor graduate of Piedmont Academy. He is also a 2021 Honor graduate of South Georgia Technical College. While at SGTC, Will earned his Associate's of Applied Science Degree in Heavy Equipment Dealer Service Technology. He is currently working for Caterpillar.

After teaching for a number of years, I decided to pursue another field in education, Special Education. I returned to college and earned my MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching) in Special Education. Having grown up with a sister who has special needs, I developed a passion for those individuals who learn and do life just a bit differently. My heart longed to teach and encourage students who needed to learn with different approaches to education. I have taught in Special Education as a co-teacher in the general education class room and a class room teacher for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Currently, I am teaching high school students with severe learning disabilities, and I am loving these precious students!

EDUCATION

I graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Chemistry. I also have a Master's degree in teaching special education from Georgia College and State University. This is my 26th year in education. Prior to teaching special education, I taught high school science, middle grades (6th-8th) language arts and science at Piedmont Academy. I am certified in Middle Grades Science, Special Education General Curriculum P-12, and Special Education Adaptive Curriculum.
