Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Ray Buck

I am so excited to be in my third year teaching at Washington Park Elementary School!  I live in Jackson, Georgia with my wife of thirteen years and my two youngest daughters (ages 5 and 2).  My family enjoys singing, making music and playing together.  We have one dog, one cat and a little vegetable garden.  My oldest daughter and son are both in college.

I earned my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Georgia in Athens.  I began teaching middle school band in 1999, and in 2008 I began teaching at Jasper County Middle School.  My music study concentrated on band class instruments and performance, but I am very excited to learn and teach the music classes at WPES.

My main instrument (or the one I play and practice the most) is the trombone.  For this reason, I use the trombone when I teach most anything to do with music. Sometimes you will hear me tell stories about performances with the Gate City Brass.  This is a brass quintet, meaning there are five brass players that make up the group.

My hope is for every student to understand the importance and value music plays in their lives.
