Accessibility is not always the first thing the average person thinks about when deciding what information should go on a website. By "average" I mean someone without any web design or HCI (human-computer interaction) training. Once you take a class in either, accessibility is one of the first concepts covered. If everyone cannot access your information then what is the point? This page will provide some basic do's and do not's of usability and accessibility. 

The original Golden Rule instructs humans to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In a similar aspect, HCI also has a set of golden rules. Written by Ben Schneiderman in 1986, they hold true today and are the tenets of design at companies like Apple, Microsoft and Google.
