This research team formed in summer 2020, and had plans to travel to Augusta to tour the canal system and meet with Dam Engineers.  However, due to COVID these plans have been delayed.  The team continued working by creating a Hydropower STEAM Design Challenge for all JCCS students.  Students in grades k-12 were challenged to construct a waterwheel that would raise a paperclip attached to a string on a straw.  Design constraints included allowable materials and proving that the system could work independently with a water flow.  The team created the challenge and packed more than 300 bags with challenge supplies.  The Dam Exam team also released an instructional video for challenge participants to view.  Students entered the challenge by submitting videos and explaining their design.
